Description: Village Green is an intentional eco-community and spiritual retreat center operating as a non-profit organization, lived on and run by a group of highly motivated individuals, couples, and families who wish to live on what the earth provides, be of service to others, and be an example of earth-friendly, sustainable living in both a commercial and residential environment. All structures built on Village Green will be constructed using environmentally friendly systems and materials. Passive and Active Solar technologies as well as natural building techniques will be employed to create a village that draws no energy from the global energy grid once constructed. Day Pass guests can enjoy a sumptuous meal in our gourmet, vegetarian restaurant and shop in our gift shop for handmade-by-us souvenirs, art, fresh veggies and other village products. Overnight and Retreat guests can choose how close to the land they wish to sleep. They have the option to stay in our hostel style sleeping rooms, individual cabins in the woods or camp on our primitive campgrounds. We provide visitors with the opportunity to commune with nature through our many varied tasks, festival and events, and recreational activities. We invite our guests to work with us in our organic gardens from which we harvest the food to be served in the restaurant, build new structures, create functional art in our workshop, celebrate the seasons during scheduled events, and just relax and enjoy the atmosphere while enjoying what nature has to offer. Guests are always welcome check out the wildlife as they explore the land around them on our hiking trails traveling either by foot, mountain bike, or horse. Natural Building workshops offer our guests the opportunity to see what goes into a “green” structure through a hands-on, fun-filled experience. During seasonal festivals, we can all come together to celebrate and appreciate the yearly cycles through which Mother Nature takes us. We offer retreats to individual seekers, churches, social organizations, schools, and corporate organizations that need a place to team build or get away from the rat race and be with nature. We open our community up to our guests and extend the hand of friendship in hopes that each will find a little bit of peace that comes from living simply and close to the earth.
