The garage door industry has proven to be a resilient sector within the overall construction and home improvement industries, with only 10% of industry revenue resulting from new residential construction. Companies that focused too heavily on new construction have exited the market, and the garage door companies that relied on the more profitable segment of retrofitting and repair of existing doors have thrived as a result. Demand for replacement and retrofit has remained robust, and many well-run companies have, in fact, grown revenue during the recession. AE Capital will focus on businesses with heavy emphasis on the repair and retrofit market.
