Description:
Millennium Scholars Academy (MSA) is a non-profit, Visual & Performing Arts charter school. Our school will be located in Snellville, GA, approximately 35-40 east of Atlanta. We plan to serve students in grades PreK-12. At capacity, we expect to enroll approximately 550-600 students, depending on facility size.
Our school model is unique for several reasons: (1) We will enroll students in grades PreK-12, typically only private and parochial schools use this model; (2) All students, regardless of race or socioeconomic status, will have full access to the arts and foreign language curriculums; (3) All students, regardless of race or socioeconomic status, will have access to a rigorous and accelerated curriculum ((URL removed)) so that we ensure all children excel in his or her area of giftedness; (4) All school-related decisions will be made locally, therefore eliminating traditional school bureacracy and waste; and (5) Our students will benefit from both an extended school day and school year, allowing any students with academic deficiencies to receive the necessary supports to succeed.
Investing in MSA would benefit students and parents, as this school provides a free school choice option for many who cannot afford private schools. This school will also be an asset to our community, as it will be the only PreK-12 public school, as well as the only school with a Visual & Performing Arts focus.
Potential investors can rest assured that they will benefit as well because charter schools receive guaranteed funding from the state, based on enrollment. Unlike traditional schools though, charter schools do not receive funds to lease or purchase facilities. This is where the investment income will assist our organization. We need to demonstrate that we have the necessary funds to enter into an agreement for a facility and cover some start-up operating costs before our charter petition is approved. As soon as the school year starts, we will begin receiving our monthly disbursements from the state.
