Description: The U.S. blood supply is an unregulated four billion dollar a year commodity market that is fraught with errors, fines from contempt citations, lost productivity and product waste. Donated blood is collected by blood banks and processed or “manufactured” as whole blood or fractionated into blood products, analyzed for acceptability, appropriately labeled based on test results and transported to transfusion locations. This blood manufacturing and distribution process is labor intensive and has numerous systematic and random errors. These errors negatively affect blood quality and costs from collection through transfusion. MIDWEST MEDICAL TECHNOLOGIES OF AMERICA, LLC (Midwest Medical) has had the opportunity to closely analyze the blood collection, manufacturing, and distribution systems from donation to transfusion “from arm-to-arm”. Midwest Medical has identified, and experts in the field have agreed, that the blood production and distribution systems have three primary segments, and in all three significant errors can result in failures such as damage to patients or even loss of life. These segments are transportation, manufacturing and transfusion. Midwest Medical is a developer of innovative technologies to support the production and distribution of blood products and sensitive, high priority biological materials throughout the world. Midwest Medical has developed a solution suite that substantially increases productivity and reduces labor, waste and risk. Each product within the solution suite is carefully designed to be congruent with current FDA processes and represents substantial cost savings for the production and distribution of blood. Midwest Medical has developed lucrative marketing agreements to reduce or eliminate any and all barriers to market penetration and facilitate customer implementation and satisfaction worldwide. Midwest Medical expects to achieve 45% market penetration within 3 years Approximately 64 million units of blood are collected worldwide. In the United States, 16 million units of blood are collected annually. Each unit of blood potentially yields an additional three units of fractionated blood products which are separated into “daughter” blood bags. The Bloodhound Solution Suite provides for a Bloodhound Data Chiptm to be used on each blood bag. With an annual U.S. production of over 41 million blood bags , the U.S. blood supply presents a sizable market and potential revenue for Midwest Medical. Midwest Medical has a track record of design excellence and quality product development and has submitted three patent applications to the U.S. Patent & Trade Office and has associated software copyrights for each product.
