Over 100 million U.S. adults are now living with type 2 diabetes (T2D) or prediabetes. There are no drugs for prediabetes. Drugs for T2D address the symptom (high blood sugar) but not the cause (insulin resistance) and their side effects range from diarrhea to increased risk of cancer.
We have discovered and patented a new class of drugs for treating both prediabetes and T2D. In a recent clinical study in humans our drug was proven safe and well tolerated, corrected insulin resistance and decreased blood sugar. It did so in a way better than the standard drug metformin.
The U.S. drug market for T2D is worth $30 billion and the prediabetes market is worth $180 billion per year today. We are developing a prescription drug for these markets. Now we are seeking Series C investment to complete the FDA mandated studies and take us to the exit event (sale or license) within 2-3 years.
