The Arts Center Foundation of Asheville supports the education of the performing arts in Western North Carolina. Through scholarships, students of all backgrounds have the opportunity to participate in music, drama, and dance classes. Additionally, the Arts Center Foundation of Asheville seeks to give back not just to the community, but to the world. Last year, through a generous donation from Volvo Construction Equipment, the Academy program was able to do a benefit performance of "Once on this Island" to assist with relief efforts in Haiti. Additionally, they were able to take this show to a national theater competition and won the most prestigious award of the competition.
