I have the only Nurse Practitioner ownered and operated clinic in the state of California. In California, a Nurse Practitioner has to be partnered by an MD 49% NP and 51%MD. On paper the numbers are such, but I am the Nurse Practitioner financing the clinic alone. I started with 0 patients and now I have close to 200 patient in one year. Insurances I am credentialed with are Blue Shield of Ca, Aetna, Medicare, CIGNA, Contra Costa Health Plan, and Medi-Cal pending.
I have worked hard to finance this clinic alone, was promised grant money, and was fraud on two occasions, but in spite of the misfortunes, I have manged to pay all of the bills, keep the doors open, and provide quality health care to all of my patients.
