Papua New Guinea Fashion Week is all about recognising creative talents, promoting these talents and at the same time see commercial opportunities for these talents. The aim of the business is promote PNG designers by bringing them together at one avenue for them to showcase their creativities through clothes that they have design and tailored. I found that so many young graduates in Designs and Arts from UPNG don't have any job prospects in the area of fashion design and arts because lack of job opportunities in PNG.
PNG is a developing economy we want the fashion week to provide a unique opportunity to create sustainable economic and cultural investment for the designers and artist. PNG Fashion Week would use the fashion show events to showcase these designers’ collections not only to PNG market but with a potential of marketing these designers globally with our international partners. Apart from showcasing PNG Designers and Artists at the Fashion Week, we would like to give Exhibitors an opportunity to join us to showcase their products at the event which would run for four days at four different venues.
The designers work as tailors with tailoring companies to create clothing for them. What PNG Fashion Week is offering is for designers to create their collections, showcase them at the Fashion Week and sell them direct to customers. The bottom line of our business is to work with designers and artist to build their brands and to use their creativities to establish themselves as businesses in the Textile industry here in PNG.
