Using a patented concept for putting small industrial diesel engines into automobiles, Wiser Motors has developed some reasonably priced vehicles that can save incredible amounts of money at the pump, and looking at gas and fuel prices today, this isn't happening a day too soon.
There isn't any secret technology or special alternative energy at work here... Wiser Motors uses technology that has been around for decades, and even mimics some of what the car makers of the '50's and '60's did, using small reliable engines to move lightweight vehicles down the road economically. Before you laugh at our Micro-Diesel powered cars, remember that the first VW Beetle had only 22 HP, and weighed more than either of our cars, and still became the most popular import of the 60's and 70's!
Today's automakers are trying to combine fuel economy with all the luxuries that they think we can't live without, adding more and more technology and over-engineering their vehicles until operating all of the technologically-enhanced options takes more fuel than merely driving them! Some of them get good mileage, yes... but the options drive the price tags up into the stratosphere, and any benefit is lost!
