Executive Summary
With highly populated cities across the globe facing threats such as earthquakes, floods,, hurricanes, high rise fires and terrorism, the need for urban rescue teams and fire fighters to perform their duties quickly, efficiently and safely is more prevalent in today’s modern society than ever before. This is poignantly evident in the fact that the Los Angeles Fire Department (“LAFD”) Special Urban Rescue Division 3 requested C.L. Martin & Sons Construction, Inc. ("C.L. Martin & Sons") to perform a demonstration of a low explosive technology to aid in breaching 4" to 16" thick re-enforced concrete walls. A series of tests were performed by Walker Martin, President of C.L. Martin & Sons in November 2007, the results of the test were deemed unsatisfactory for the following reasons:
• Interior spalling & shrapnel;
• Unsafe air over pressure & vibration concerns;
• Impractical Federal, State, and Local explosives regulatory compliance regarding use by firefighting operators;
• Impractical explosives storage & transportation issues; and
• Impractical explosives training & deployment issues.
Despite these concerns, the LAFD continued to explore alternative wall breach methods using explosives, requesting the privately owned Police training company North Vector to perform tactical wall breaching tests. These tests were deemed unsafe by the LAFD; however, the L.A. County Fire Department has signed on with North Vector to develop a pilot program allowing the training, transportation, and use of High Explosives by fire fighters for the sole purpose of breaching walls to save lives.
Hydro Impact Technologies Corporation, (“HIT” or the “Company”), was formed as a joint venture between C.L. Martin & Sons, and the New Jersey Institute of Technology based Jet Energy Inc., with Walker Martin and Ernest Geskin PhD as sole shareholders. Over 15 years of water propulsion R & D combined with the intellectual property of both principals provides the foundation for the Company’s first line of products. These products can achieve the wall breaching tasks more rapidly, requires minimal training, and mitigates the transportation, storage, certification, and dangers associated with the use of High Explosives.
Products
Hydro Impact Technologies can help fire fighting and rescue professionals accomplish their critical missions through a variety of innovative proprietary tools. Our products enable fire fighters to break through walls to save trapped fire fighters or civilians in 1/3 the time compared to saws, arrive on site and knock down fires immediately without running hoses using a fraction of the water, and fight high rise fires without the dangers associated with current methods. Many of our products can also be used by the military, police, and correctional sections.
Our flagship products are the HIT Proprietary Rescue Device 30 (HIT PRD 30) and the HIT SWB 50 or Special Wall Breach.
• The HIT PRD 30 is a one man operable hypersonic water slug launcher capable of cutting through concrete, steel, and a host of other hard materials in a fraction of the time compared to saw cutting and jack hammers.
• The HIT SWB 50 or Special Wall Breach system knocks holes through walls, using the two standard three foot fire fighting cuts of “round” and “teepee”.
Secondary products include the licensed technology from IFEX GMBH. Using compressed air and water to “shoot out fires” this flexible line of applications is able to extinguish fires in less time, using less water, by increasing the surface area of water droplets. Models range from the IFEX 3000 personal, to the truck mounted seven inch Dual Intruder cannons, and helicopter and tunnel mounted models. Visit the IFEX website here (URL removed) en/(URL removed)
