Dear Staff,
I am a self employed African-American female who founded a nonprofit organization in 1992. As a registered nurse I'd witnessed that so many infants were born with serious medical conditions and remained hospitalized for many months and sometimes even years because the family could not handle their complex medical needs and there were no community nursing facilities that accepted infants and children. So in 1989, I obtained licensure for two such facilities to meet the needs of my community. However we encountered many roadblocks and red tapes and blatant racism and after 12 years we were finally driven out of business.
