Description:
This is a spiritually based family entertainment center that will operate 7 days a week and will welcome the very young to the old. The entire facility will operate on a 'debit-card' system and will virtually be cash-free. When the guest comes in they will have a 'Camelot Card' and can go right to the games, swipe the card and start playing. The system will also provide checks/limits on the cards so a parent can limit the amount of sodas or candy bars their kids can buy and also limit the age of the guest to the batting cages that are too fast for them. There is no limit to what the debit-card system can do. This will be the backbone of the center.
There will be a lounge area for moms to sit for a while or for a group of school kids work on a project together.
There will also be meeting/party rooms. One of the biggest income generators in the F.E.C. industry has historically been the party rooms, whether for birthday parties or retirement parties or just a get together for a local club. There will be a dedicated staffer to cater to THEIR party only to ensure the utmost level of guest satisfaction while reducing the requirements of the organizer of the party.
An arcade area will also be available that will include everything from skeet-ball to the most up-to-date games and will probably be a profit sharing enterprise (which is more economical and allows greater flexibility for the center.)
As was mentioned earlier, batting cages will be implemented whether at the onset or later in the stages of development of the center. While being an indoor setup, the cages will be available year around. They will also incorporate both base- and soft-balls. There will be controls at the batters box that will control the speed of the next pitch and also the height. A major feature of these cages will be that a team or coach can rent the space out before opening hours and work with their team by adjusting the speed and height of the next pitch.
The hub of the entire center will be the indoor miniature golf courses. It will be a modern and up to date setup and will have an easier course and a more difficult course. Who doesn't like to play mini golf whether you're on a first date or a family of four wanting some 'bonding' time?
A necessity to any facility will be the food court. There will be simple fare such as soft pretzels and pizza. Soft drinks and ice cream will have their place, but milk and yogurt will be available as alternatives. We will try to keep up with guests changing tastes.
Soft play will be available which will not only have climbing tubes like you would find at McDonalds, but also have 'edutainment'. This will have certain stations or items that the toddlers can play with while learning all while having fun. The tubes will have a regular cleaning and maintenance schedule that will be done every month.
The facility needed will be approximately 30,000 square feet and there are two locations that I have my eye on. An alternative to building a new building would be to convert an existing one, but they are hard to find that would be of the size and height needed. The climbing tubes and certain inflatables will require 12-15+'. The building, if built, will be a slab and tilt building with some decorating on the exterior to incorporate the Camelot 'theme'. An area of about 5-10 acres, with 8 being ideal, would be perfect for the building, sufficient parking, and enough area for expansion of possibly a go-kart track or even maybe a water attraction.
