Description: STIMnet is a discovery-based networking tool used to develop global mentor relationships. While currently unfunded, we have in place working relationships with educational institutions in the US private sector, small liberal arts colleges, independent schools in the Bay Area. Think of us a Facebook meets StumbleUpon meets the Peace Corps. We are at the stage where funding is essential for product development. Executive staff includes two career educators and technologists, as well as a CTO with substantial expereince working with startups. Concept will be monetized through goods, services, and related applications/advertising. STIMnet is included as part of the Queensland, Australia based "Children of Tomorrow" project that includes SolarnetOne (Vint Cerf's project to drop solar internet cafe's into the undeveloped world), The Growing Connection ("earth boxes"), One Laptop Per Child (Nicholas Negroponte), Hear and Say Worldwide, Share, and Everyday Hero (AU). Our business model is a hybrid profit/non-profit with possible explosive group in schools, universities, and the 15-23 demographic. The brand will also reach across demographic lines to actively court internet users who see no use in social applications. STIMnet is unique, and uniquely set up to make possible both extensive social impact and financial growth.
