Description:
In April of 1963, my picture appeared on the front page of the Seattle P.I. and several major American newspapers showing me attending Chinese elementary school in Taiwan with fourth grade Chinese children. Later I took a teaching job in the American military dependents schools, teaching the children of the U.S. military stationed in Taiwan. While I was there I taught myself Chinese folk songs and would then teach them to my fifth grade American students so now I’d like to round up some Chinese musicians and make a movie about this. For several years I mulled over about how a movie could be made about this and then one day I remembered seeing a big wooden cutout of Elvis Presley in a downtown square in Taipei, so I wrote the script with Elvis performing a big rock concert in the Officers Club in Taipei. So this would involve rounding up about thirty fifth grade American children and a great Elvis impersonator. If we can get the film distributed in China it could prove to be very profitable for the producer as it could lead to sequels. So now I’m looking for investors, especially Asian investors.
Who would want to invest in something as spacey as a movie about Chinese music? Not many people unless---the big “unless”---unless there was a role in the film for a relative of the investor---a daughter, a granddaughter, a niece, etc---and the investor thought that this might jumpstart the movie career of the relative. So keep me in mind in case you run across this highly improbable scenario.
Thanks, Tom
