We are looking to build and run an egg laying facility with organic chickens. We have been exploring the idea for sometime now. I have been working with a local business that deals with this type of industry. He has given me various cost and earnings projections that he has seen with these types of facilities and I am quite impressed. He has been in the industry for 30 years and I feel he is a very reliable source. We would be looking at a facility that raises 17,500 birds. The facility would be mostly automated and would require little labor while still meeting the cage free,organic egg production standards.
I have been able to obtain financing for the birds and some of the equipment and another party is willing to invest in the rest of the equipment and or barn/structure. We are looking for $250-$300 to start. The entire project projected start up is around$700,000 - $750,000. We have come up with around $450,000 of capital so far. We are able to send a business plan with cash flow projections and other data as needed.
