Description: The project is book which features the profiles of 50 people from around the country who work full-time jobs or have otherwise busy lives, but find time once a week or once a month to volunteer on a consistent basis for a cause that they are passionate about. Profiles include volunteers of all ages, races and income levels from all over the country – small towns and big cities. Professions of these volunteers include; Scientist, Satellite Designer, Bank VP, Music Director, Bus Driver, Emergency Room Nurse, Teacher, and the recently unemployed. They volunteer with organizations like; Red Cross, Habitat for Humanity, PETA, Guitars Not Guns, StandUP for Kids, Planned Parenthood, Dress for Success and more. They teach piano lessons to the blind, guitar lessons to inner-city kids, dress women in transition for their new jobs, build homes for those in poverty, knit blankets for babies, feed poor children, mentor autistic youth, patrol gang infested streets and so much more. Amazing results are produced by very ordinary people, giving just a small amount of their time, but on a consistent basis. In addition to profiles of the interviewees, the book will also contain inspirational quotes, statistics on volunteering in America, resources for volunteers & non-profits as well as a worksheet page to help you discover a cause you’re passionate about. The profiles will include two photographs of each volunteer; one of them doing what they do 9-to-5 and another of them doing their volunteer work. The purpose of the book is two-fold, one is to celebrate and acknowledge the working Americans all across the country who are making a difference on a regular basis. The second is to inspire and encourage would-be volunteers and give them real-life examples of how to fit volunteering into their daily lives and showcase some of the many different opportunities that exist in the diverse non-profit world. The book will be approximately 80 pages, full-color, with a hardcover binding and a size of approximately 7.5 inches wide by approximately 6.5 inches high. A strategic partnership is in negotiations now that could put this title in front of 100s of 1,000s of our target audience. Additional marketing strategies include allowing the book to be sold as a fundraiser through non-profits around the country. Self-publishing gives us the control and profit margin to execute this strategy very effectively. Additional marketing strategies include a custom song that has been written to go with the book, also custom designed t-shirts and other merchandise with quotes from the book will be sold through the website. These strategies are designed to be used for viral and word-of-mouth The content is in the editing phase and cover and interior designs are underway. I'm looking for an investor who sees the timeliness and relevance of this kind of book at this time. I am open to a short-term loan (6 months) or an equity investment with the right person. Lumino is primarily interested in receiving capital from Angel Investors.
