Synopsis
The thought is to set up a chain of small format fast food outlets serving the best of Indian snacks selected from all over the country and cooked in a healthy way for people who want a quick quality bite on the move.
We recognize that in India big markets exist down the price ladder and “Value” is key in India. Any offering which meets the price-quality equation, ideally works in India. Our objective is to trap this highly unorganized Indian fast food industry and be the largest player by 2011 both in terms of size and revenue.
The core premises upon which the concept is weaved are:
Affordability – Price of a street side snack
Quality – Operate like a Mc Donald’s
Location – Very high footfall areas like railway stations, educational institutes, bus stands etc
Others:
- Fire to belly serving – We wish to serve real hot snacks at any given point in time thereby creating ultimate customer experience unlike the heating model followed by others which doesn’t appeal to the Indian taste
- Automation & Processes – We believe that systems and processes play a major role in determining the growth of an organization. We would invest considerably in technology to fully automate and build one integrated unit thus providing consistency across all the outlets and at the backend ensuring minimum human intervention.
- Hub and Spoke – The business will run on a hub and spoke model with a central kitchen in all cities and the stores running on an assembly line model.
- Target Group - Our target group would be people who go to a roadside vendor/few organized players but are not satisfied due to poor quality, taste not appealing them, bad service and inconsistent pricing. Also, people who have always craved for authentic Indian snacks but don’t have an access to such food. Our menu will appeal to all and sundry as it will have the best of local and national snacks in a particular city.
- National Footprint - Plan to setup 50 stores in the first year and take it to 500 by 2011.
- Financial Goal – We plan to break even in the 1st yr of operation itself.
This is just a very brief summary of our thought process indicating what we broadly intend to do and the way we want to operate this business.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
