Description: I am 59 years old and have had Parkinson's Disease for 9 years. I had to retire early as a result. Since I have retired I have written children's books and poetry, led a support group ((URL removed)), my story is in a book called 'Surviving Adversity' by Gord Carley and I have worked on an innovative business idea for the 4+ years. Leading my support group and working my business idea are my way of fighting back. The Concept: · When people have to wait in various locations boredom sets in pretty rapidly. And often they go to vending areas and buy a junk food snack to pass the time. So what if there were an additional vending machinethere that had a variety of books including puzzle books, fiction, nonfiction, trivia, self help and inspirational books. We also just added healthy snacks, Target Location examples: Train stations, bus depots, airports, ferry terminals, commuter terminals like ferries & subways, hospitals, emergency rooms, hotels, office buildings, court houses and repair shops. Hospitals tend have thelongest wait times. We are also considering college dorms. Each location would have product mix based on demographics. Hospitals are the #1 priority since the have the longest waiting times, the most captive audience, the largest staff to customer count percentage, three groups of potential customers with the staff, patients and visitors. Our Cause· Significantportion of "my" personal proceeds will be donated to find CURES. 50% of used book sale and 10% of new book sales of the company will be donated to the cause money will actually be charity/fundraising group of the customers choice. What better cause than CURES would be appealing to those in hospital. We are a for profit company however, so adjustments will be made if necessary to achieve our goals. Placements: Seattle Center(12MM people visit the center each year), Highline Hospital, Overlake Surgical Center and 2 going in this week at the Auburn Super Mall Pending Placements: Evergreen Hospital, Washington State Ferries Our Goal: To get placements across the U.S. using retired people who want extra income, disbled, charitable groups and students to be our instant sales force and to service the machines.
