SEMISAS, LLC is currently a small company with a new type of crash shock isolation technology which has applications in every field of transportation (e.g. cars, trucks, highway barriers, trains, tracks, ships, docks, aircraft, runways, spacecraft), plus there are numerous military and Homeland Security applications . These new shock systems are being called, SEM (Solid Ejection Material) shocks and basically SEM shocks use the high pressures that are needed to initiate the flow of plastics & elastomers. These flow pressures can range from 2,500 psi up to 35,000 psi, so relatively small parts can still deliver very high restraint load performances.
We are currently small but over the years, we’ve been able to run a number of high load drop tests and full scale vehicle impact tests. This new technologies website provides a basic rundown on the SEM technology and a basic overview of myself.
Since there are a number of applications for the SEM technology the initial focus will be for a new Dynamic SEM Terrorist Vehicle Barrier, which will meet the dynamic K-12 vehicle barrier spec (e.g. stop 15,000 lbs truck moving at 50 mph, within 3.0’ of travel and absorbing 1.2 million ft-lbs of energy). Currently there are few companies that build this type of vehicle barrier.
