Executive Summary
Laurent Doll is a rapidly growing, award winning manufacturer & ecommerce retailer of 18" doll furniture and accessories-a $700M category dominated by Mattel's American Girl. As part of our growth strategy, we are building out a technology platform to enable child creativity and interaction with our products in addition to a separate effort to enable our already existing third party customization partners to resell through our online store as well as through our extensive North American retail network. Eventually, we intend to expand our manufacturing, technology platform and customization network into pet and children's furniture.
Revenue Model
We sell our own branded products to consumers online as well as through a nationwide retailer network including Toys-R-Us, Target, Wayfair and Amazon. With the rollout of our technology platform, we will begin reselling third party products in which we will take a revenue share.
Management Background
I am a Wharton MBA grad with a dual degree in Entrepreneurial Management and Finance. I also have an undergraduate engineering degree from Cornell University. Previously I ran 2 venture backed companies, one of which I put on the Inc 500 two years running. Last year I co-founded an online video publishing network which has generated over $1M in revenue in its first 12 months and was profitable in its 4th month of existence. This company is projected to generate approximately $10M in 2013 and is currently at a run rate of $360k/month-up 100% from two months ago.
Laurent Doll recently hired a President & COO, Len Latona, who is a 25 year toy industry veteran. Previously Len successfully grew another toy company from $3M to $52M in annual revenues in just three years in his then capacity as National Sales Director.
Successes to Date
Laurent Doll in its first year generated $125k in revenue (in just nine months) selling out of nearly every product by mid November-long before the holiday shopping season truly began. In its second year (2012) Laurent Doll generated $493k in revenue and once again sold out of nearly every product by the first week of December. The company has won numerous awards for its products, has retailers across the US carrying its products as well as in Europe and in December 2012 finalized manufacturers rep coverage across all of North America.
