Verdigris is building a new bank and technology company dedicated to serving low and moderate-income consumers and the businesses that serve them. We intend to provide low-cost and transparent banking services that profitably bring underserved communities into the financial mainstream.
There are 63 million people that are unbanked or underbanked. These consumers pay way too much to engage in common financial transactions – like cashing a check, sending money to their families (especially across borders), paying bills, or buying something online. The non-bank financial instruments they use to live life are expensive and our solutions intend to fix that. Being poor does not have to be so expensive.
By providing access to a regulated bank, we give these consumers the tools to engage with today’s economy. Giving them a safe, basic bank account allows them to transact with the world at minimal cost and helps alleviate the cycle of poverty.
