Description:
In 1993 I selected and purchased a yearling colt for $3,500. His name is Formal Invite and his sire is Sonsam, the former World Champion. Sonsam’s first crop of yearlings averaged a $56,000 purchase price which was an all-time record high for a first-year sire. Sonsam sired over a thousand horses in his career and Formal Invite is his second-fastest performer.
As a green three year old at Vernon Downs, with me driving him, Formal Invite had four wins, four seconds, and one third in eighteen starts for a UDRS average of .364 and
took a mark of 1:55.3.
