Description:
I'm looking to start a laundry mat in a rural, tourist area located 20 miles east of Paris, Tn. The initial start-up idea is to rent/lease a highway location which is readily available, purchase used equipment, install, wife will operate, husband will continue outside employment, we will do as much maintenance as possible, and operate debt free. The current full time population is over 40,000 within 5 mile radius, and the next nearest laundry facility is 20 miles away. The tourist or seasonal population increases by at least that amount. Any facility with laundry (ie: rv parks) does not allow the general public to use the facilities and there are usually only 1 washer and 1 dryer. We will start with a variety of washer capacities to total 7 - 10 machines, and 4 dryers. As we increase our customer base, we will add additional machines as needed.
Fourthgoing, there is some real estate available in 5 and 10 acre parcels with highway frontage. Our goal is to purchase real estate, build our own facility, and expand with other useful and entertainment services not available in the area without driving 20 miles or more. This would include a car wash, and a family entertainment facility.
