Description: I have a concept/idea/business plan that I developed for the tourism industry in Monterey, California. Monterey was the Sardine Captial of the World from 1930 to 1945. Cannery Row was made famous by author John Steinbeck, and Fisherman's Wharf is a magnet for tourists. This project will capitalize on the tourism in Monterey by installing the famous purse seiner Western Flyer at Fisherman's Wharf, for tours by the public and marine science expeditions around Monterey Bay. The second part of the plan is to build an scale model of the harbor, including 1/60 scale model purse seiners (100)that will sail around the harbor and bay via a GPS guidance system, recreating the sardine industry for a huge tourism base. The City of Monterey is very supportive of the idea and is willing to work with a group to install the project on Cannery Row and Fisherman's Wharf. Vistors to Monterey are over 4,000,000 annually, including many top area events/attendees that are looking for creative and unique activities to attend.
