EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Company Description
Revolution Mobile is an internet based business providing small to mid-sized companies, with little or no national presence, the advantage of sending their advertisement directly to a local consumer’s cellular phone for little or no cost to the advertiser. The ads can be sent at specific times of the day to take advantage of the potential customer’s likely location and frame of mind. Revolution Mobile also gives consumers the ability to participate in the advertising cycle by electing to receive ads and providing the opportunity to reduce or eliminate their cellular bill in exchange for their participation.
The Company’s Mission
Revolution Mobile’s goal is to provide innovative, highly targeted advertising that is both location and time sensitive, thereby allowing the advertising client to reach potential customers when they are conveniently close by and at a time when the customer is most likely to make a purchase. Also, our goal is to allow the customer to actively participate in the advertising cycle, electing to receive ads on their cell phone and reduce or eliminate their cellular bill in exchange for their participation.
Industry Analysis
Revolution Mobile is in a position to take advantage of the significant opportunities presented by the rapidly expanding industry of internet and alternative advertising services.
The advertising industry, as a whole, grew an average of 2.84% per year between 1997 and 2002, while the GDP grew at a rate of 3.1% during the same period. Internet ad spending, on the other hand, has had double digit growth every year and will account for 20% of world ad spending and 37% of U.S. ad spending increase this year.
One study that analyzed 26 text ad campaigns using 5,401 interviews with campaign participants found that the likelihood of making a purchase after receiving an anticipated text ad increased by an average of 35%.
Market Description
Revolution Mobile will provide advertising services to small to mid sized companies with little or no national presence. Revolution Mobile will also provide low to middle income families and singles with merchant discounts and the opportunity to reduce or eliminate their cellular bill. As an internet company our services will be available worldwide, but marketing efforts will be concentrated in major cities in the Ark-La-Miss Tristate region, and later to major U.S. cities.
Competition
Competing with Revolution Mobile to supply the advertising needs of the target market are a range of traditional advertising firms. There are a number of mobile marketing companies operating in the U.S. and internationally. They employ several business models; approaching the market in different ways. The study mentioned above found that companies offering very modest monetary incentives to consumers for electing to receive text ads had extremely positive responses to those ads. Our research has not found any companies in the US or internationally that are pursuing this approach to advertising on a large scale or full time. There are no local competitors in the category of mobile marketing.
Marketing
Brand recognition will be critical to our initial success. Recognizing this fact, Revolution Mobile will begin with a pre-launch campaign using traditional advertising venues like television, radio, billboards, and internet search engines to familiarize the public with our brand name and our slogans, “Revolutionize your business!”, “Revolutionize your life!”, and “The right ad to the right person at the right time.”
Operations
The key to Revolution Mobile’s strategic concept is effective integration and dissemination of Consumer and Advertiser information. It will be vital to have adequate hardware, software, and phone/internet access to deliver the advantages mobile marketing promises.
Growth
The financial strategy of Revolution Mobile will emphasize reinvestment of income to fuel growth during the first few years of operation. We anticipate having positive cash flow by the end of the second year.
Funds Sought and Utilization
The company is seeking $20,000 in investment financing from one or two investors. These funds will be used for programming, web services, and initial hardware purchases.
A second round of financing may be sought to fund traditional advertising campaigns to establish brand name recognition in local, regional, and possibly national markets.
