On September 5, 2007, hurricane Felix, a category 5 hurricane, made landfall on the north Atlantic region of Nicaragua. The hurricane’s devastating winds and rain leveled the old-growth tropical forest on a gigantic scale. (Forestry Report available upon request).
Nicagreen has concession with the Nicaraguan Government to recover, harvest and sell fallen hardwoods, timber, and other valuable wood on 800,000 acres of land damaged by Hurricane Felix. Nicagreen has a contract with Rich Resources to extract fallen timber.
