Description:
As communication technology advances and tools become more pervasive in society, the traditional office blurs, i.e. geography and time zone. Organizations are more-and-more giving up traditional brick and mortar, in exchange for the online office.
Todays’ telecommuter uses some or all of the following tools: Laptop, VPN, Instant Messaging, OWA, On-line Meeting, SmartPhone Mobile Computing, Desktop, Remote Desktop, Collaboration/On-line Workspace, and Video Conference.
However, offices have a natural social dimension, which adds to the employment experience. Remote Working Arrangements historically have disrupted this quality, i.e. employees feel isolated; they do not participate in unscheduled meetings; colleague relationship building must be planned; and manager feedback is scheduled vs. occurring throughout the day.
Levamen developed some very interesting technology, i.e. an on-line office building. A program beta began December 10, 2011 and will last until the end of January 2012. The expectation is that the company will begin to take orders by the end of the first quarter 2012. At that time, we will most likely be looking for investor(s) to participate.
