Renegade’s Rescue is a group of individuals looking to rescue and rehabilitate our equine friends. Let me start off by talking about Renegade. She was my very first equine rescue back in 2009. She was taken off a meat truck, skin and bones, but still had such a fire in her eyes. It didn’t take long before my heart melted for her and she was my baby girl for life. Thanksgiving 2017, I had to say goodbye to my best friend. After multiple surgeries, she unfortunately did not make the turn around we had hopes. She was going to have to live with chronic pneumonia for the rest of her life. She gave me the look one morning and my heart sank.
After saying goodbye to my best friend, I thought I was done with horses. I sold everything. A few weeks later, something clicked. I knew I was meant to save more. Although I had saved two other OTTB’s since Renegade, I now know I have a purpose to save more and create the same friendship I had.
Rome, the main man featured currently, came to me because of an amazing group of individuals that rallied and bailed him out of an auction pen. He came to me very thin, weak, dehydrated and with plenty of bumps, bruises and scrapes. He in on the right road to recovery and we cannot wait to see how well he comes around.
