Description:
The HERO House provides recovery home and educational support services to college students. It is one of the few recovery homes focused specifically on the college student. With its emphasis on academic success in addition to successful recovery, HERO House runs one of the most effective recovery homes in the country.
After nearly two decades working on college campuses in the field of recovery and substance abuse, Randy Haveson founded HERO House five (5) years ago in Atlanta, Georgia. HERO House was started to address the lack of quality housing options for college students in recovery. HERO House staff has significant experience both in recovery and the college campus environment.
The Company has now expanded its operations to Orange County, California to provide a national reach for its services. The Company’s growth in Atlanta bodes well for potential success in the recovery hotbed of Southern California. In five (5) years in Atlanta, HERO House has:
• Achieved five-fold growth in its client base, growing from an average of 3 residents per month to over 17 residents per month, and from 10 students in its first year to 50 in 2009;
• Increased its average monthly fee from just over $1000 to over $2500;
• Expanded from one rented 4 bedroom home, to 5 rental and 2 owned properties;
• Developed a home specifically for female college students.
The college student population has surged in recent years, as has the number of college students going to treatment facilities. The problem for most of these students is that when they get out of treatment, they return to the college environment and do not have an opportunity to live with similarly situated students, which is highly successful for achieving long term recovery. In addition, most colleges have inadequate support services available for students in early recovery, thus undermining those students opportunity for academic success.
The Company believes that with an effective marketing campaign, it can effectively expand its Atlanta operations to an average of 50 students per month, and grow Orange County to a similar size in time. By focusing on the high end of the market, and by providing a high-value added service for academic support, HERO House has the opportunity to develop a substantial cash flowing business, while assisting uniquely challenged students with transforming their lives.
