Dear Sirs,
I would like to introduce myself to you as a prospective entrepreneur interested to set up a mosquito repellent coils manufacturing unit either in West Bengal or in the North Eastern Region. My name is Shri Prasanta Sanyal, aged about 31 years. I did my schooling at Blue Mount English School and completed my H.S. (Science) in 1999. Thereafter I earned a Diploma in Electronics and Telecommunications from Institute of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers, New Delhi in the year 2003. Also I have completed:-
1. a certificate Course in Computer Hardware and Networking, AutoCAD from Assam Engineering Institute, Guwahati
2. Management Certificate Course on Quality Management, Financial Management, Marketing Management, EDP, Packaging for Exports etc from MSME – DI, Government of India, Guwahati-21.
3. Capacity Building Programme on Entrepreneurship Development from Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship, Guwahati.
I have worked under a registered firm named Meta Scan Project Corporation for one year and was involved in extensive survey/data collection in the Municipality/ Town Committee area in the entire state of Assam. For sometime I worked as a Temporary Faculty for Computer Hardware and Networking in MSMS-Tool Room. I have also worked as a Technician of Computer assembling and trouble shooting for two years.
However, I was not satisfied with my jobs and therefore, started to explore the possibilities for setting up a small sized manufacturing unit. After thorough discussion with many experienced people (in industry, finance, banking etc) I opted for ‘Mosquito Coils’. It is a product which enjoys very good market prospects. Demand for this product is ever increasing due to increase in population, change in demographic pattern, gradual worsening of the drainage systems etc. In my opinion this product is going to have high demand in the long run also unless a better substitute is launched in the market.
Ever since I took the decision to involve myself in a Mosquito Coil manufacturing unit, I have been studying the ins and outs of this industry. I contacted a few machinery manufacturers who manufacture and supply compact mosquito coil plant viz, KRG Machinery Pvt Ltd, Teja, A. K. Enterprise. I have also collected detailed information regarding required raw materials and their sources.
In order to acquire in depth knowledge regarding manufacturing process, I personally visited a local unit and gathered all essential data/information. This apart I also made necessary enquiry about availability of skilled workers and other staff. It will not be difficult necessary labour force for my unit.
Entire North Eastern Region is mosquito infested area. As I have mentioned earlier, I was involved survey of households in different Municipal Boards/Town Committees of entire Assam. During the survey I observed that there are more than 350000 households alone in Guwahati city. That too excluding the vast number of households residing in the quarters of N F Railway and illegal constructions in different parts of the city. It is estimated that more than 50-55% mosquito repellent users are dependent on coils and minimum consumption is 3 packets per household per month. At this rate Guwahati city requires about 577000 packets per month throughout the year except little fluctuation on January and February. Also major determinants of the selective demand for a specific brands or products of a particular company are the competition offered by other firms marketing similar products and the extent to which product differentiation has been achieved. Relative effectiveness of the marketing program of a company, including quality, price, sales promotion and service, determine the market share that it can capture. All these independent variables together determine the magnitude of actual demand that can be tapped by a company.
I am quite confident that with my qualification, experience and in depth knowledge of mosquito coil manufacturing and marketing thereof, I am capable of setting up of an unit either in West Bengal (Nadia District) or North Eastern Region and run it successfully. I am capable of acquiring land for the proposed unit and arrange for necessary power connection and qualified/experienced manpower. According to my assessment a small sized unit will now cost about five crore of rupees ($1,109,877). If I approach a bank for financing of the unit, the bank will ask for promoters’ contribution to the extent of 33.33%. Unfortunately, at this moment mobilization of that much of fund from my own sources is not possible.
In such a situation it occurs to me that unless I get a strategic partner who is willing to provide me with necessary financial back up, of course after thorough scrutiny of my project, I shall not be able to implement it ever. However, before giving up the entire idea I thought that it will be a worthwhile effort to extend a proposal for an angel investor for my upcoming industry in Nadia District (West Bengal, India) just beside the National Highway No-34.I have been working for this project for the last fourteen months; I need investors who can invest in my project. I believe that every angel investors is desirous to invest in manufacturing operations (FMCG Household product) which has future scope for growth. According to industry reports, the Indian mosquito repellant market is expected to grow rapidly. Analysts said that with improvement in literacy and health consciousness in rural areas, the use of mosquito repellants was expected to increase substantially in these areas. As the per capita usage of repellants was very low in the country, there was considerable scope for the market to expand.
If you agree to my proposal or any angel investor through you it will also tantamount for that Investor who will invest in my manufacturing operation. Additionally you will enjoy the benefits of my in depth knowledge of various technical aspects of operations and the local environment, market conditions, infrastructure etc.
Against this backdrop I request you to be kind enough to grant me permission to make a detailed presentation of my case before you. Your positive response will definitely be a milestone towards implementation of my dream.
Thanking you in anticipation.
Yours faithfully,
