At present India trails other countries on the quality of • dental care services it provides, • the availability of post graduate training • Patient treatment facilities • the support services in the form of dental laboratory services As the Indian economy continues to grow and as the government's ambitious plan for 'Oral Health for All by 2020' is set in force, the dental industry in India is required to evolve to meet these demands and to deliver a consistent quality of service. The Indian dental market demographics and forces are as follows: • Dentist Population ratio 1:10000 urban areas & 1: 250000 rural areas WHO target 1: 2000 • Registered dentists 1, 25,000 and is projected to be more than 2, 00,000 in the next five years. • 20,000+ dental graduates are added to this list every year. • Continuing Dental Education 20 hours per year mandatory for licence renewal as per DCI rules. • Population Growth at 1.7% per annum This document outlines the proposal by IndDEC to address the quality issues outlined above. ► To address the Educational market gap • which has arisen as a result of the Dental Council of India mandating ongoing post graduate training for Dentists in order to improve the quality of the services provided by the dental industry. • which has arisen as a result of predominantly theoretical undergraduate programmes which provide little to no hands on training • which has arisen as there are no programmes currently available in India which provide “End to End” dental service training. ► By becoming the preferred learning partner for Dentists in India through delivery of : - Regionalised European standard courses / post graduate learning - Both site based and remote Learning capability (and blended) - Clinical training through appropriately qualified (and vetted) personnel - Provision of access to post course support / material and updates ► With Strong Brand Name Centres of Clinical Excellence across India IndDEC is finalising affiliations with highly reputed and internationally renowned dental institutions in the UK to provide accreditation and certification of the courses to be offered in India ► To address the increasing demand for Quality Clinical Services within India • increase in population • increase Medical tourism • Increase in demand due to penetration of dental health insurance. • Increase in affordability by patients, • Increased awareness on health care, • Improved infrastructure and • Increased disease patterns. ► And the increasing need for more dental professionals and dental laboratories, in the coming years, thus further increasing the demand supply gap in existence today. ► Through the creation of Centres of Clinical Excellence across India
