I followed a nonlinear path: raised and sent to schools that were preparing for a regular career as an employee or a professional, but with music as a relief from such imposed destiny.
At the end this helped me to find a job and rise a family: here in Italy the profession of Musician is not recognized neither istitutionally nor culturally,
A music teacher career also carries great criticalities (almost impossible in public schools, possible but with low incomes in private schools).
So why I still do it? Because I can't do without.
After a daytime spent in the office and with my family (I'm married and we have two beautiful daughters), I'm craving to enter the studio for playing and producing music with the only purpose to reach as many people as possible.
Whether it's improvised free jazz, a quirky tune for a commercial or cinematic tracks for a videogame, I try to steal as much time I can from sleep to create and share my music with the widest possible audience.
Teaching is also a true joy to me even if, because of my dayjob, I can keep no more than 3/4 students: their enthusiasm after a lesson is the biggest reward I could ever desire.
Obtaining a fund would mean being able to devote my working time entirely to music production (both as a freelancer and for music libraries) and piano lessons.
In the long run it might be profitable, but most of all it would give me the freedom to create,
perform and share my music full-time.
