Great Nutrition is key to good health and becomes even more important—even critical—when someone's health is compromised by Cancer, ALS, Multiple Sclerosis, Cerebral Palsy, or any other medical condition that requires a feeding tube.
I learned this up close and personal in 2014, when my husband and I went to go be with my brother-in-law, he was suffering from ALS, a condition also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease. Because my brother in law was in the last stages of this devastating disease, he was unable to eat by mouth and was only able to be fed through a feeding tube.
For my brother-in-law, the doctors prescribed a pre-made formula specifically made for tube-fed patients. Unfortunately, it didn't take long for his body to reject the chemical and preservative laden formula, and in the wake of the rejection, my brother-in-law's C. diff Colitis symptoms, that had been under control, returned. Doctors made several attempts to use or modify different formulas and antibiotics, but after more than a month of unsuccessfully fighting this horrible battle, the doctors simply told the family there was nothing else they could do for him.
Armed with my research and determination, I put together a new formula, using only natural, organic, high-quality, real food ingredients.
Almost miraculously, my brother-in-law's fragile body accepted the nutrition, and he began to recover. In addition, the C-diff Colitis symptoms after this long ordeal was stopped instantly after the first meal was administered.
The doctors professed amazement at my results and marveled over his blood work, and C-diff symptoms would never again return as he lived out his last several months with ALS.
Before my brother-in-law passed away in late 2014, he inspired me to publish a recipe book. So, I embraced this cause with a passion and in early 2017 Nutritional Food Blends Healthy, Easy Recipes for Tubies first edition was launched.
Being a former nursing assistant I studied holistic nutrition, health coaching, prevention and cutting-edge dietary theories including paleo, gluten-free, raw, vegan, and macrobiotics with the world's top health and wellness experts. I am a Certified Nutrition Health Practictioner, and practice Holistic Health Nutrition and I continue to work along the sides of doctors that need my help when feeding tube patients need nutrition, have formula rejection, or need help to stop or reduce C-diff symptoms.
Now with my latest knowledge, I would like to bring my incredibly nutritious, healthy breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, deserts and wellness meals to market. There are a wide variety of those tube fed that may face similar or nutrition issues. Just because you are tube fed does not mean you have to give up nutrition. I have been helping thousands of patients that are in need of these meals and need them to be put on the market.
