Description: We have made a groundbreaking discovery of a natural phenomenon and created a non-invasive method of real-time monitoring of atomic reactions to detect structural failures in materials and have the U. S. and international patent applications pending. The invention has been successfully tested in over 280 experiments on different materials. Its universality for countless possible applications is based on the fact that the object of the studies is an atomic reaction and the energy radiated in the X-ray spectrum that can be measured, makes the method independent of the size, form, composition of the object study, and the nature of external influences. It offers unlimited possibilities in early defects detection in pipelines, airplanes, rail tracks, bridges and other structures, equipment, devices regardless of sizes, applications, and conditions of use. I. Billion-dollar business opportunity: current state of theories and methods of structural assessments The business what we are about to describe should be over a billion dollars worth since it offers yet untapped potentials of quantum mechanics in real-time non-invasive safety and other purposed monitoring of structures, equipment, devices (list is unlimited) and living organisms regardless of its type, nature, materials, applications and external conditions they have been used in. The current methods of evaluation of structural integrity are based on the classical mechanics' theories, are over 80 years old and do not take into consideration new scientific discoveries and technologies, like quantum mechanics that are at the core of major technological breakthroughs of 20th and 21st centuries. They are unsuitable to analyze the processes that develop at atomic and nano levels. There are multiple examples of failures and catastrophes that could not be prevented nor explained by the methods in use (Oil-Pipeline Cracks Evading Robotic 'Smart Pigs', WSJ, 08.16.2013). The biggest “Elephant in the room” of current reliability assessment methods is that while using the equipment that is based on principals of quantum mechanics they are drawing conclusions based on classical mechanics. II. Possible real-time applications (cannot fit this limited space...) • Real-Time monitoring of pipelines, airplanes, rail tracks, any other structures and equipment for microscopic and nano cracks development. III. DISCOVERY AND PHYSICS BEHIND OUR METHOD It is well known that metals have only limited external X-ray transparency at high voltage. Although, we have discovered and established experimentally that X-rays, born in a substance (metals, plastics, rocks, concrete, etc), are different from the X-rays emitted by high voltage X-ray machines and do travel a distance of thousands, even millions of times greater. We have called this natural phenomenon the Y-Rays, Self-Emission Transparency, and it is at heart of our method that allows measuring and analyzing the technical condition of any object identifying any possible damage at the stage of its origin and development, even before it manifests itself on the nano levels. It is done without any external source of X-rays or energy with much greater sensitivity, precision, and efficiency, even in lead, which is commonly used as a shield against the X-Rays. Several of our 280 experiments were done on the rail tracks and have been able to identify microscopic cracks at the 1 mile (1600 m) distance without any external sources of X-ray radiation. The distance, in this case, was limited only by the length of the study site. The other experiments were done about 10 -20 feet away from the rail tracks, again, identifying the microscopic defects. We believe that our discovery is a paradigm shift in multiple fields. WE ARE IN POSITION TO PROVIDE EXPERIMENTAL AND THEORETICAL PROOF OF OUR METHOD AND THE DISCOVERY BEHIND IT. U. S.
