Description:
OurShelf is part social network, part social shopping, part self-organizer. The users use internet technologies as well OCR technologies to catalog their personal goods. Dont' worry, your friends will be doing it too, then you can borrow and lend items for each of your shelves! Form groups and communities, like book clubs or movie clubs, or create a group for you and your friends to browse and "shop" as you aggregate items on the group shelf. The development focus of OurShelf is to build an organic framework, more than an application. Users can extended the available item types (such as 'book' or 'dvd') through a public API. The API for access the items on the shelf is also open to users, allowing the community to build third party applications (such as a Google Maps mashup, to see the physical location of all the goods you have lent out). Lastly, there is a plugin API, which allows the community to extend how people interact with items on their shelf.
