I am one of the owners of Insight Diagnostics Labs. We are currently looking for an investor to grow our molecular platform specifically hereditary cancer and carrier testing.
Up to 10% of all cancers are due to inherited mutations in genes associated with hereditary cancer syndromes, passed from parent to child. If no preventive measures are taken, patients with inherited mutations are at much greater risk for developing cancer— up to 82% for breast and colon cancer.
Insight's Preventative Test is a non-invasive test performed by collecting a simple mouthwash sample. Our Preventative Test is comprised of 35 genes that are association to increased risk for 8+ cancers.
Genetic knowledge has a variety of benefits. These results aren't "just to know" and they aren't just for the individual being tested. Result indicating increased cancer risk may inform patient's family members, who may be at higher risk as well. With the knowledge of a higher risk of cancer, patients and their physicians can put together a screening plan at a younger (URL removed) more serious cases, the result may indicate a very high risk of cancer in the future. If appropriate, surgical intervention may be suggested to prevent cancer. For In-Vitro-Fertilization (IVF), using Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD) to test the embryo can help ensure a genetic mutation is not passed down to a child
Insight translates scientific discoveries into customized and more effective treatments for patients. We can help to predict disease risk, or to determine how patients might respond to certain (URL removed) same technologies that are improving the discovery of therapeutic molecules for cancer, are being used by Insight to assist in the screening, diagnosis, classification of cancer patients, and the optimization of drug therapy.
