THE MARKET The tourism and entertainment industry in Nigeria is experiencing tremendous growth as reflected in the federal office of statistics records, the industry is segmented into different sectors namely: events, tour management, touristry, hotels and resorts, catering and other pseudo services which includes transportation, guides etc. the industry is experiencing increased government concern in the area of budgeting, ministerial oversight and legislative protections, there is also private sector participation as recorded with the Tinapa resort in calabar cross rivers state and the arugungu festival of keffi state. There is immense investment in the events sector as corporate organisations are using the events to showcase their brands. COMPETITION The level of competition in the sector is moderate as the firms in the sector are all specialized in their buisness service i.e. divine concept initiative is specialized in fashion shows, toa communications is specialized in television shows etc. Notable is silver Bird group which are a conglomerate but major in hospitality and electronic media there activities have impact on market share only in the entertainment area as they have television and radio stations, cinema and hotels. The competition we expect will stem from the entertainment sector as there already major players in the sector which have large market share they include silver bird group, mo hits records, kennis music and daar communications plc.
