Description:
We are in the process of starting a multi-dimensional agricultural tourism/education business. The central component of the business is a family sized farm. The farm will include horses, cows, sheep, goats, lambs, alpaca, chickens, and many other animals. The farm will also produce a full kitchen garden, orchard, and wheat fields. The livestock and crops will be used in producing organic food and other products for sale through the farm store and website. The next aspect of the business is the educational programs. We currently have an extensive curriculum of children's classes including, livestock care, survival skills, sewing, art and crafts among many more. These programs are not only offered through our weekly classes but also offered as part of our field trip program. We will be offering field trips and farm tours to schools, scouts, churches, etc.. The tourism aspect of the business is also multi-faceted. The first part is the activities and programs. We are currently offering sleigh rides, hayrides, and other seasonal events. These are drawing locals as well as many tourists to the area at the local B&B's and ski resort. We plan to expand by building 3-5 cabins on the farm. We then will be able to offer "working farm vacations" as well as expand our specialty programs. There has been extrememly positive feedback thus far. We know there is the possibility to make this an extremely profitable business given the funding to enhance what already exists and build onto our programs.
