Description:
Farmovo is a digital agriculture ecosystem for farmland leasing and cropping, empowering small holder farmers to increase production and serving end users low priced farm fresh produce (up to 40% lower than retail pricing) through an efficient farm-to-table service.
We are poised to become the Airbnb of Agriculture providing value for the Agricultural value chain by generating revenue from unutilized farmlands, creating employment and wealth for smallholder farmers, increasing production and reducing global food prices (by up to 40% lower) through an efficient farm-to-table service using precision farming methods, digital agriculture applications and blockchain technology.
THE PROBLEM (We are solving)
- UNDERPRODUCTION AND FOOD INSECURITY: Small farmers (smallholders) in developing countries have poor access to funding, agricultural insurance and basic financial services which grossly affects production, food security, nutrition and leaves over 870 million people hungry.
- FOOD PRODUCTION LOSSES: According to the UN up to 50% of crop value worth over 1.3 billion dollars yearly is lost between harvest and point of sale.
- HIGH COST OF FOOD: Agricultural produce at grocers and retail points are up to 40% more expensive than those directly sourced from farms or farmers' markets with the average person in some developing countries spending more than 50% of their income on food.
OUR SOLUTIONS
- Crowdsourced and direct farm funding for farmers covering all activities from planting to harvest along with insurance to cover for all farming perils.
- An e-farming platform were farmland owners can lease their land for cropping with reward of up to 10% of the harvest (this is a solution particularly for the developed world with a lot of idling un-cultivated land) .
- Farm-to-table service reducing food prices by up to 40% and ensuring farm fresh quality for end users.
