Description: Emetro is a Wireless ISP start-up company founded with the principal goal of deploying a municipal Wi-Fi network in Tirana, Albania. Tirana has an estimated population of 1 million. The Wi-Fi network will cover all the high density areas of Tirana with an all around length of 21.28 km covering an area of 20 km2. The basic business model for the network is to offer indoor and outdoor accessibility for products such as desktops, laptops, PDA’s and IP cell phones. The cell phone business is the most profitable telecommunications business in Albania. By offering low prices and covering a large portion of the city we estimate to capture at least 5% of this market in Tirana which would represent 20,000 customers. Emetro intends to compete directly with the existing Internet Service Providers that offer dial-up and broadband solutions such as DSL and cable. Whereas those technologies enable limited fixed use only, wireless technology provides the added benefit of high quality, support for nomadic, portable, and mobile use. We will market our products by emphasizing our strengths, targeting different segments of the market Market analysis have demonstrated that there is a clear need for low-cost broadband Internet access in the city above and beyond what is available today. In order to stay competitive and draw consumers, the subscription price is significantly lower (3-10 times) than what the competitors are charging for these services.
