Making Ends Meet, Inc., is a 501c3 Internet-based non profit organization. Its mission is to expand and impact the lives of single mothers; and to support and honor children living in a single parent family home; in a positive, uplifting, and loving way.
Making Ends Meet has become concerned about the needs of single mothers across America. In 1998, 7.7 million (78%) of single mothers maintained their own household. Most of these mothers (69%) had no other adult in the home to help them out. Press Release U.S. Census Bureau, May 3, 2000. The number of single mothers has remained constant.
Many single mothers have unexpected challenges arise and sometimes there may be a need for financial assistance. Many single mothers may lack the credit history to access, funds or relatives for support, child support, or may not make enough to make ends meet. We think about the children being raised by single mothers and their needs.
We promote Economic Literacy and Self-Sufficiency by providing financial literacy and resources to single mothers nationwide who are faced with unexpected challenges such as; car and transportation expenses, the need for work-related uniforms, child care resources and costs, educational fees, rent/mortgage assistance, utility assistance, tutoring resources, clothing, food, and much more.
To assist single mothers and help them overcome financial hurdles, Making Ends Meet is establishing an Internet-Based Economic Literacy and Information & Referral resource. We will create a web-based I&R resource. We also plan to connect low income single mothers to financial advisors with the “Project for Financial Independence Program” Sponsoring organization National Endowment of for Financial Education (NEFE) (URL removed). Financial advisors provide pro bono services to low income individuals who are facing temporary financial crisis.
Making Ends Meet, I&R web-based resources is part of the National Human Service Taxonomy which is called AIRS Taxonomy. (URL removed). This will allow for us to provide nationwide referral resources to single mothers nationwide. Making Ends Meet will provide single mothers access to financial education or financial planning. This program is solely for single mothers in financial need. Single mothers will have 24 hour access to emergency online resources.
Making Ends Meet, has focused its efforts for social change and be the voice for the single moms in need. We are dedicated to providing financial literacy and resources, that will provide substantial awareness so that the single mothers across the United States have a place to turn to and be able to manage their finances, increase their salaries, and create financial stability for their families and become much happier, healthier, and financially smarter for the sake of their children and to leave behind a legacy of financial awareness to their children. We believe strongly that this is a much needed service and to let the single mothers out there know that they are not alone and to let the focus be solely on them.
