I am developing & testing a Solar Hot Water Heating system that solves many of the major problems currently associated with "Roof Mount" solar systems. My design utilizes the hot attic space to heat water, & doesn't require any equipment to be mounted on the roof. Most city building codes, & homeowners association rules do not allow solar equipment to be mounted on the roof. My system is not visible from outside the home, & doesn't require expensive,roof mounted collector boxes. It is constructed from "Off the shelf" plumbing components that have passed Schedule 40 pressure rating, & will not require expensive engineering certification. This system is low cost & should have a very short "Payback" period of 2 to 3 years. I have designed it as a "Kit" that can be easily assembled by a homeowner or handyman. I am presently experimenting with coatings that will improve infrared absorption. Operating data indicates this system will produce hot water at 150deg. after a short warmup period, & I am working on improving heat retention longer after the sun goes down. My company is presently working on product development, & with some guidance & start-up funding, could go into production rapidly.
