Lithos Biofuels’ objective is to perfect cost-effective processes for economically viable production of ethanol (LithosolTM), diesel (LithosdieselTM) and jet fuel (LithosjetfuelTM) by transposing and constructing novel pathways in lithotrophic microorganisms. Current ethanol production processes utilize sugar from plant-based biomass derived primarily from corn or sugar cane. Lithos Biofuels’ processes do not utilize plant biomass. Instead our processes are based on energy- and cost-efficient sugar production by engineered lithotrophic primary producers. Our technology is applicable for increasing yields of alcohol-based as well as oil based biofuels. Lithos Biofuels will use Alternative Lithotrophic Technology (ALT)TM by deploying proprietary microorganisms for sugar and bioenergy production. Our lithotrophic microorganisms “fix” carbon by capturing atmospheric carbon dioxide and make sugars via engineered enzymatic pathways. These microorganisms grow faster than traditional sources of biofuels feedstock, carry biosynthetic capabilities similar to plants and will produce more sugar than sugar cane. At full development our technology will directly deliver higher yield capacity per year for hydrocarbons and biofuels and will augment traditional processes in yield enhancements as well.
