Description: Downtag is a Newport Beach-based company created by a daily motorcycle rider and former paramedic. The goal of Downtag is simple - to improve the safety and security of motorcyclists. To accomplish this, Downtag combines a single product and multiple complimenting services, operating as one system (a "virtual riding partner"), to ensure the safety and security of our clients. There are four components that makeup the foundation of Downtag: 1. The DownTag - a laser engraved medallion worn by the client, similar in shape and size to a military “dog tag”. 2. Our Emergency Medical Records Database (EMRD) - a HIPAA Compliant secure database containing our client’s personal, emergency contact, and medical history information. 3. Our Trip Planning and Management System (TPAMS) - a proprietary internet based system utilizing Google Maps and GPS technology (when applicable). 4. Our Emergency Operations Center (EOC) - a 24 hour staffed dispatch center, similar to that used by public emergency response systems (police, fire, and EMS agencies). The DownTag The DownTag makes it easy for emergency responders to recognize Downtag members and contact our dispatch center for potentially life-saving information. The DownTag is an identification tag (similar in size and shape to a "dog tag") provided to every Downtag client upon registration. The client’s basic information (name and date of birth), Downtag member identification number, basic emergency medical information (blood type, current allergies, and major medical condition[s]) and a phone-number to the Downtag Dispatch Center are laser engraved on the DownTag. Emergency Medical Records Database Downtag's Emergency Medical Records (EMR) Database is a HIPAA Compliant secure database containing our client’s personal, emergency contact, and medical history information. A client's EMR file is a single file containing all of the pertinent information needed in case of an emergency, allowing for (1) immediate identification, (2) immediate notification to their friends/family, and (3) rapid and focused medical treatment based on the client's personal medical history and needs. Trip Planning & Management System Our proprietary Trip Planning and Management System (TPAMS) makes it easy to plan trips of any length and provides non-intrusive supervision throughout the trip to ensure every client reaches their destination safely. The TPAMS allows Downtag to respond to client emergencies with unprecedented speed and efficiency. 24-Hour Dispatch Center Downtag’s 24-hour Dispatch Center is the linking aspect between TPAMS and our Emergency Medical Records Database. Staffed 24 hours a day, Downtag dispatchers monitor all ongoing trips entered into TPAMS and respond to client emergencies by providing the client’s critical medical information to emergency medical personnel and hospital staff, and by immediately contacting our client’s emergency contacts regarding the accident. Client Security DownTag considers the security of our clients’ information to be just as important as their personal safety. Our clients’ information is stored in a secure, undisclosed location and protected by HIPAA-certification. No one will be able to access our clients’ information unless it is requested by medical personnel during a genuine emergency.
