Description:
The Problem: One out of every two American adults aged 30 and over, has mild to severe periodontal disease according to recent findings from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). When not addressed and left untreated, will result in teeth and bone loss. For more than 100 years the standard of care for periodontal disease has been a combination of tooth extraction, full mouth flap surgery which is painful and expensive for the patient or blind root planing. Twenty-Five percent over age 65 have lost all their teeth.
The Solution: Non-invasive Regenerative Periodontal Endoscopy (RPESM), a proven protocol, using a 1 mm endoscope, allows the clinician to see high resolution images, (130 to 170 pixels) below the gum line. Tartar and biofilm on the tooth roots can now be clearly seen and cleaned without surgery. This small scope uses coherent image fibers, ranging from 17,000 to 30,000 which provide a clear image with up to 48 times magnification.
The Opportunity: $3 Billion market in USA. Each Dental Operative Unit (DOU) sells for $10,000. Recurring revenue is achieved through one time use sterilized accessories and replacement of the fiber optic bundle several times a year. This results in thousands of dollars of recurring revenue, per year, per DOU delivered.
PerioEndoscopy, LLC has designed an advanced technology dental endoscope that provides a higher resolution image, improved water delivery and will incorporate a proven easy to follow protocol. The PerioEndoscope will be marketed to the 150,000 dentist in the US, not just the 8,500 periodontist. For dentists this adds several thousand dollars to their revenue per patient, who they had previously been referring a periodontist for flap surgery. Flap surgery is typically a $12,000 to $14,000 procedure. Better patient care at significantly lower cost (70% savings). It should be noted that multiple insurance billing codes exist for both these procedures.
Recurring Revenue Model: Revenue is achieved through the sale of the $10,000 PerioEndoscope and consumables that range from $5,000 to $10,000 per year for as long as the Class 1 medical device is in use. Gross Margins greater than 60% will be achieved. The general dentist will be able to increase his revenue up to $250,000 per year, per device, for work conducted by the dentist’s Registered Dental Hygienist.
