Description:
Please note that this business does not yet exist as I need to secure funds first. The following is from the Executive Summary of my business plan:
Print Smart will compete in the aftermarket imaging industry, sometimes referred to as the “refill” or “reman” industry. We will offer premium refilled and remanufactured printer cartridges for virtually every laserjet printer, inkjet printer, fax machine and copier on the market today. The majority of products sold will be refilled and remanufactured in-house by technicians. Free product delivery will be available every weekday throughout the St. Louis metropolitan area, and products can be shipped nationwide as well. Business will be conducted from leased warehouse and office space. Roughly 1000 square feet of space will be needed.
Our clients will be businesses that wish to reduce overhead costs but are not willing to sacrifice print quality. These clients will value the convenience of our delivery system and the level of attention given when it comes to customer service.
The Print Smart business model is aptly suited for long term growth. Our marketing strategy will be to emphasize the high quality of the products we provide and the availability of our service. None of our local competitors are attempting to deliver the type of marketing message that Print Smart will. Most of our competitors emphasize tremendous savings to would-be customers, sometimes advertising savings of up to 70% off the price of OEM products. This cheapens the value of their product in consumer’s minds, and all too often products that are discounted in such a fashion are indeed low quality.
Management will consist of two industry veterans (myself and Michael Nelson) with a wealth of knowledge and understanding of what it will take to make Print Smart a success. I will primarily focus on expanding and maintaining our client base, and Mike Nelson will take care of operational aspects of the business. On startup the staff will consist of myself, Michael, and at least two full time or part time sales people. As the company grows we will hire multiple delivery people, sales people, and technicians to remanufacture cartridges. Michael and I have nearly 8 years of combined industry experience, and expansive knowledge of every aspect of this industry. To speak in plain terms we know what works, and we know what doesn’t work.
Based on the marketing approach we plan to take, our sales projections for the first year are $65,000.52. My salary will be $18,000, and Michael will be paid an hourly rate of $10 per hour. He will only work a minimal number of hours each week until an increase in sales necessitates an increase in the number of hours he will work. As sales increase Michael will transition from part time employment to full time employment.
I am seeking an operating line of $50,000 to finance Print Smart. I am investing $40,000 to meet working capital requirements. Michael Nelson will not be investing anything in the company monetarily and he does not seek ownership. Patricia Willer will be investing $10,000.
Print Smart will succeed because the business model we have developed improves on strategies that have already proven successful for our competitors. I have a passion for this business and I’m ready to work hard to grow Print Smart into an impressive company. Once the business model proves itself I intend to expand to other markets outside of St. Louis.
