COMPANY OVERVIEW:
Our brand was created by Matt from original and innovative recipes that are based on extensive research and travel made with his wife Josefina whom he met in Mexico. The desired end products are delicious, organic, healthy Mexican tamales that remain true to Mexico’s classic culinary heritage.
Made in California, they are the first truly organic Mexican prepared frozen foods in the marketplace.
Key Points: Authentic Recipes, Gourmet, Organic, Handmade, Convenient and easy to prepare, Healthy, Low in sodium, 0 gram trans fat, Low in cholesterol, No corn syrup or processed sugars, No genetically modified ingredients and No artificial flavors
Why are we better? Most natural products found in the super market freezer have the minimum required amount of organic ingredients to qualify for the basic certification available in order to boost their profit margins. There are just a few companies in the Market that dominate the freezer category that follow this strategy: Amy’s Kitchen and Cedarlane Foods. They don’t have anything like what we offer.
We have 3 tamale flavors: Black Bean, Chicken Mole, and Red Chile Pork in distribution throughout California.
BUSINESS MODEL:
We will expand our network of retail stores that carry our product by obtaining new distributors in regional areas throughout the U.S. and by selling directly to the retailer. We will then aggressively and with creativity market our products in each new region by utilizing the new media and social networks. At the retail level we will be doing promotions, to drive sales and create brand awareness.
We will be seeking distributors in regional areas throughout the U.S. We are currently utilizing food brokers in most areas of the country to help us get into distribution. However our goal is to hire regional sales managers to be accountable for sales in their given territory.
100% of revenue currently comes from the sale of our products to consumers at the retail level.
Key expenses: sales, marketing and production.
Our margins (GPM) will be between 30% and 45% depending on what line is picked up. Yes our profit margins vary from SKU to SKU; our vegan tamale has the highest margin because it is meatless. Margins will be somewhat lower if we sell to a distributor. If we sell direct to the retailer our margins maybe higher.
