Have you heard of the new industry, meal assembly stores? I prefer to call my business a dinner store. I have been open just over a year and have recently gone through a major change that I really never anticipated. Long story, shortened; the franchise that I bought into went out of business and "sold" us to another franchise. We received no financial compensation from the old or the new franchisor. I got through the woefully undercapitalized startup phase, and was approaching breakeven in month 7, when the proverbial rug was pulled out from underneath me. I've recovered from that hit and am poised for success for the first time since I opened my doors as a truly independently owned and operated dinner store. But first, I have to find additional funds that I cannot secure through traditional methods.
