Sifu Design Studio is a lifestyle yarn and knitting shop. This is not your typical yarn store. I plan on cultivating the entire person who is a fiber artist. A portion of the shop will be dedicated to a hand made gift gallery for local designers to sell their goods. This will diversify my customers, so people who wouldn't normally walk in to a yarn shop will be attracted. I am very interested in buying local and keeping our economy vibrant! Buy local, sell local. Lessons will be offered to hone your craft in knitting, crochet, embroidery, felting, spinning, weaving, and dying. I am also going to dedicate spaces for 100% America made! Ideas that go hand in hand with this is the green/eco friendly products. Recycled or repurposed and organic items will have highlighted space in the shop. Knitting is a DIY (do it yourself) craft, and to emphasize the importance of a DIY lifestyle, a lot of the shelving units and display furniture I will make from scratch, or made from recycled and repurposed items. For example, I am going to make a book shelf out of old dresser drawers. I am in the very beginning phases of opening. I do have a brick and mortar location in Chicago, but I am looking for working capital so I can meet my deadline for the grand opening in March.
