I put on a yearly EMS / Fire Bootcamp for teens to allow them a career pathway into the Fire / EMS / Law ENforcement and Military careers. My bootcamp offers an introduction into all of the above in an academy-style weekend and allow them to gain hands-on experiences as well. Once graduating, they have an opportunity to join my explorer post, Explorer Post 911, where they have an opportunity to further gain experience and continue their education in EMS and Fire. Through this intereste the explorers have the opportunity to continue with their career path by enrolling in classes such as Emergency Medical Technician, Fire Academy and Paramedic Academy. From this Explorer Post, I have had 18 kids proceed to become Registered Nurses, Deputy Shariffs, EMTs, Paramedics, and some are currently working on thier Bachelor's Degrees along with working in the discipline. One is currently in Medical School to become a doctor. This program has proved to be a launching stage to secure careers and I anticipate continuing this program for the benefit of kids, furthermore improving the workforce and ultimately improving the economy.
